Privacy
This page explains what data Kubbe uses, why, who with, for how long, and how to exercise your rights. We keep as little as possible, and we never sell it.
Who looks after your data
The data controller is Raphaël Ohayon EI (sole proprietorship), publisher of Kubbe, based in Grand Baie, Mauritius.
Any questions: raphael@kubbe.app.
What Kubbe keeps, and why
If you join the waitlist. Your email address, the date you signed up, and your IP address and country at the time of sign-up and confirmation. They’re used to tell you when Kubbe launches and to send you news now and then. The date, IP address and wording of the form also serve as proof of your consent. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
If you answer a survey in an email. Your answer (for example your Mac’s chip or your launchers) is saved to your profile, so we only send you what’s relevant to you. Legal basis: your consent.
If you buy Kubbe. Your email address, license key, renewal date and subscription status, plus a technical identifier and the name of each activated Mac (2 at most). They’re used to make your license work and to send you emails about your purchase: your key, a declined payment, the renewal reminder, the end of your license. Legal basis: the contract, and for the renewal reminder, the law (article L215-1 of the French Consumer Code).
Payment. It’s handled by Stripe, the official seller of Kubbe, under its own privacy policy. Kubbe never sees your card details.
Email statistics
Waitlist and news emails contain a tiny invisible image that tells us whether they were opened, and their links go through our sending tool to count clicks. These numbers are only used for overall statistics and to spot addresses that no longer open anything, so we can ask whether they’d like to stay subscribed. Emails about your purchase contain neither.
To opt out: unsubscribe, or block images from loading in your email app.
This website
kubbe.app sets no analytics or advertising cookies. Like any website, its host (Vercel) receives your IP address in order to display the pages. It also counts visits anonymously (pages viewed, country, device type), without cookies and without tracking you across sites.
Who has access
- Lumail (Codelynx LLC): the subscriber list and sending emails, with Amazon SES for delivery.
- Stripe: payments, as official seller.
- Cloudflare: the server that checks licenses.
- Vercel: website hosting.
No one else. Your data is never sold, rented or used for advertising.
Outside the European Union
Some of these services are based in the United States, and Lumail archives emails with Cloudflare, partly in the Asia-Pacific region. These transfers are covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses, included in their data processing agreements, or by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for the services that are part of it.
How long
- Subscribed, no purchase: 3 years after you sign up or last interact with us (a click, a reply). Before deleting anything, we ask whether you’d like to stay.
- Customer: for the length of your subscription, then 3 years for news if you agreed to receive it. Invoices are kept by Stripe for as long as the law requires.
- Unsubscribed: your address is kept only so we never email you again. If you ask for it to be erased, all that remains is an encrypted trace used for the same purpose.
Under 15
The waitlist is for people aged 15 and over. Below that age, a parent’s consent is required.
Your rights
At any time, you can access your data, correct it, have it erased, object to its use, restrict its use, get a copy of it, and withdraw your consent. For emails, the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every message is all you need. For anything else, write to raphael@kubbe.app: we’ll reply within a month.
If you feel your rights aren’t being respected, you can file a complaint with your data protection authority, such as the CNIL in France (cnil.fr).
Changes
If this page changes, the date at the top changes too. If a change affects something you agreed to, we’ll let you know by email.
